A silver flatware for twelve people by Cesa, Conchiglia pattern, Alessandria, Italy, first half XX century.
Description: The Cesa, one of the most prestigious Italian silversmith, was founded in 1882 in Alessandria. It is still active, under the brand name 'Cesa 1882'. It worked for the Royal House of Italy. Nowadays 'Cesa 1882' works for the President of the Italian Republic official residence (The Quirinale Palace).
The Cesa cutlery - whose first production dates back to 1898 - is one of the best products of the brand. Spoon, knife and fork should be considered as 'jewels' on the table: it is necessary to go through 38 different processing steps before getting the final product.

Our cutlery, with a 'Conchiglia' (Shell) pattern, was produced in the 20s of XX century with some additions from the same factory in 1949.
Our model, still in production with the reference number 28.80.8442, is one of the most prized of the Cesa factory.

The dinner service is composed by 108 pieces: 18 forks, 12 knives, 12 soup spoons; 12 fish knives and 12 fish forks; 12 dessert forks and 12 knives; 12 coffee spoons, along with 6 utensils.

The cutlery conditions are excellent considering age and use: no chips, no scratches and no restorations.

Marks: 1) ACC with a crown, used by Cesa until 1935 2) 800 (purity degree 800/1000), 3) 1 AL (lozenge mark identifying the silversmith number), used by Cesa after 1935.
