Description:Brooch-pendant, nature-inspired, made of semiprecious stones. The frame, in silver and silver gilt (vermeille), is processed with the granulation technique, typical of the ancient Etruscan.
The back, structured as a box, has a removable cover in silver and glass. In France, jewels of this type were called souvenir.
The ancient technique of 'commesso', which flourished in the sixteenth century under the Medici family in Florence, is also known as 'Florentine mosaic'. It makes use of the chromatic beauty of semi-precious stones to create evocative compositions. Flowers, animals, fantastic creatures and decorations turn tables, panels and consoles in art pieces. The technique consist in inserting, like a mosaic, small pieces of marble and semi-precious stones, previously cut, shaped and selected by color, in surfaces of slate, black Belgian marble and other marbles.
