A washing basin and its jug, Paris, France, 1820 c.
Description:Our porcelain jug and basin have typical elements of the French Empire style and of the so called 'Old Paris' style.
The jug has a circular base and smooth rounded body; the basin has a smooth and flared body in the directoire style. Both of our pieces are decorated with flowers.
The multi-colored flowers bouquets execution is as precise as they were taken from a botanical treaty.
The bright yellow is characteristic of the color palette of the Napoleonic period.
The basin was used, together with the jug, to wash the hands and it was a part of the so-called 'porcelain room'.
Condition: some slight wear of the gilding. Restoration: the handle of the jug.
