Mario Bellini designer, three black arrangeble elements, model 'Gli Scacchi', Manufacturer C&B Italia, 1971.
Description: Three black arrangeable seating & table elements by Mario Bellini designer (model 'Gli Scacchi', soft 'Duraplum' polyurethane).

The elements 'Gli Scacchi' ('The chess game') can be used both as a seat as well as a table. This results from the unique manufacturing process that Mr Bellini has taken over from the manufacture of cars. The panels of the elements are manufactured in the same way as some part of cars.

Mario Bellini graduated in the Milan Polytechnic in architecture and design. He taught in Venice industrial design and worked as an interior architect and designer. In 1963 He designed for Olivetti adding machines, electric typewriters and computers like the one used by NASA 'Programma 101'.
He was editor-in-chief of Domus magazine for five years (1986-1991).
In 1987 the MoMA Museum of New York dedicated to him a personal exhibition. The MoMA has 25 works of Mr Bellini in its permanent design collection.
He has designed important projects such as the Portello Trade Fair quarter in Milan, the Exhibition Centre in Villa Erba on the lake of Como, the Tokyo Design Center in Japan, the Trade Fair in Essen in Germany, and the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia.

Manufacturer C&B Italia, Novedrate, Como, Italy.
