Description:Gaetano Broggi opened his first shop in Milan in 1818 to sell his own hand-crafted silver products.
In 1841, the Milanese company became an official supplier to the Italian royal household and to the Habsburgs.
In the 1920s, the business started to make products for the dinner tables of prestigious cruise ships, including the Michelangelo, the transatlantic Rex and the Andrea Doria.
Broggi also became a supplier to the Papal State.
The service comprises 72 pieces of cutlery, along with 5 utensils.
There are 8 pieces for each of the follow cutlery: fork, knife, soup spoon; fish knife and fork; fruit knife and fork; dessert spoon; tea spoon.
Marks: 1) Broggi 2) 800 (purity degree 800/1000), 3) 51 MI (lozenge mark identifying the silversmith number).
Condition are excellent considering age and use; no chips, no scratches, no restorations.
