The term Art Deco refers to the International Exposition of Modern Industrial and Decorative Arts, held in Paris in 1925. It was during this time of artistic innovation that our item was produced.
This small tray was made from transparent crystal that was blown by hand before being decorated with the acid-etched intaglio image of a greyhound.
The silver surround is representative of the close partnership between silversmiths and glassmakers in this period.
Marks: 1) Minerva's head 1st standard mark, 2) initials N&? by the silversmith inside the diamond shape.
