Description:Porcelain plate, China, Qing Dynasty, Qianlong period, c. 1760.
The sunken center of the plate is decorated with peony flowers and branches over stylized gold rocks. In contrast, the rim is embellished with fruits and flowering branches. The colors of the polychrome enamels used are grass-green, pea-green and pink. The porcelain is covered with a thick grey-blue glaze. This plate was made in China for export to the West by the "East India Company". The rim is slightly chipped and the gold of the rocks has been worn away to some extent.
