Description:Of Thomas Whieldon (1719-1795) type, this mug is inspired by this famous Master Potter who influenced and taught the famous potters Ralph & Aaron Wood and Josiah Spode.
He was in partnership with Josiah Wedgwood.
Whieldon made many pieces in natural shapes, like cauliflowers and cabbages.
Staffordshire, has been a district making pottery and porcelain since the 1700s. Some of the most famous factories include Adams, Davenport, Ridgway, Royal Doulton, Royal Worcester, Spode, and Wedgwood.
The mug is modelled as the head of a leering satyr, crowned with red grapes and green vine leaves.
