Description:The tankard is a typically British drinking vessel that was used in antiquity for wine and, more recently, for beer. The embossed white-porcelain decoration depicts a Bacchanalian orgy, complete with putti and dancers, and is embellished with gilded detailing.
The handle is a gold-painted imitation of a tree trunk and the cover inserts into the neck of the tankard through a gilded metal mounting that is decorated with flowers and leaves.
Marks: N under crown in blue enamel.
