Description:Ignaz Joseph Pleyel (Ruppersthal 1757 – Paris 1831) was born in Ruppersthal in lower Austria. In 1772 he became the pupil of Joseph Haydn in Eisenstadt.
Pleyel moved to Paris in 1795. In 1797 he set up a business as a music publisher (Maison Pleyel), which among other works produced a complete edition of Haydn's string quartets (1801).
In 1807, Pleyel became a manufacturer of pianos.
It was at that time, the supplier of Empress Josephine and of the most important European courts.
Pleyel pianos were appreciated by great composers such as Frédéric Chopin and Franz Liszt.
Piano No. 13819 was built, in fact, in 1846 for Fryderyk Chopin.
Other musicians have appreciated the level of manufacturing Pleyel: Thalberg, Franck, Debussy, Grieg, Ravel, De Falla, Stravinsky.
This grand piano is in good condition and has the serial No. 36257.
