A North-Italian walnut bureau, second half of XVIII century.
Description:The structure of this bureau is of softwood, a characteristic of Italian furniture, while a walnut veneer covers its surface displaying various tonalities.
This contrast of colours creates a pleasing play of geometries, which is further emphasised by the contrasting grain of the wood.
The inlaid decoration on the front features stylised racemes and other motifs, whereas the davenport has a mould of a dog, a ram and a bunch of stylised flowers.
The bureau features a number of secret drawers, as well as the original locks.
