Description:The subject of the drawing is Filippo Raffaelli, as is noted down on the paper, who was the uncle of the roman painter Attilio Simonetti (Rome 1843-1925).
At that time Rafaellis is one of the most notable and famous family dedicated to the art of mosaic, working for the Vatican Studio Vaticano del Mosaico, as well as many members of this artistic family were masters in the fine art of micromosaic.
Filippo Raffaelli, was the brother of Carolina, who was Simonetti’s mother.
The very gentle and refined drawing with the light guache colors on the face, is typical work of the Luis XVI period.
