Description:The painting belongs to the genre of painting called in italian 'da camera'. It consist in small paintings of heads and portraits, but mostly of idealized heads or character.
In our painting there is a certain emphasis on the childish character (forehead, large eyes), even if the portrayed appears as a young girl, with long hair tied back with a red ribbon. The background is dark, the woman is turned slightly to the left side with his eyes turned towards the viewer.
The work should be referred to a painter active in Rome, with a classical imprint.
The painting requires to be restored in order to remove the thick yellowed varnish.
The carved and gilded frame is a Salvator Rosa one of the eighteenth century.
