Description:Francesco Trevisani, who was a pupil of Antonio Zanchi (1631–1722) in Venice, arrived in Rome in 1678, where he lived until his death. He became close to the circle of Carlo Maratta and to the environment of the Arcadia movement. In such framework he developed his rococo style, with graceful tones.
St.Rocco is the patron of surgeons, pharmacists, pilgrims, travelers and invalids. He is here shown dressed as a pilgrim with the stick and the dog that brings him a piece of bread to feed him when, sick with plague, he retired in a forest.
